Carribean Theme Wedding for Andrea and Joe

by 9/12/2009 3:01 PM

Andrea loves the beach! So it's definitely not surprising when she picked the Carribean theme for her wedding reception decor. The colors that she picked match very well with the overall theme: hot pink, burnt orange, and light peach. It worked out great!

For her centerpieces, we did two designs: tall ones to emulate the feel of palm trees and short ones using birds of paradise. She loves to have a lot of colors in so that exactly what we did.

For the tall centerpiece we used sword ferns mixed in with ruscus to create that "palm tree" look and we mixed in curly willows, pink anthuriums, orange mokara orchids, green spider/fugi mums, alstroemerias, hypericum berries, and button mums. For the short ones, we used birds of paradise, green spider/fugi mums and alstroemerias. Both vases were filled with a mix of red, orange and clear marbles to bring more colors in. Around the tall centerpieces, we sprinkled a mix of hot pink and orange fresh rose petals. For the short ones, we sprinkled sand around the vases.

We added some fun stuff on her place card table by using a big shell-shaped vase, starfishes, fresh mokara orchid and rose petals, sand and hot pink and orange ribbons. It definitely brought the beach to Belle Voir!

As for her cake...we opted to go for a simple design for the cake itself and poured on fresh rose petals of hot pink and orange colors around the bottom of the cake. I thought it looked stunning how the cake seemed to "float" on the sea of petals! This certainly made it to one of my most favorite works!

And once again we were blessed with a gorgeous August weather for a perfect wedding day! I certainly had a great time working with Andrea, her mom and Michelle, her sister! Thank you for letting me fly with my ideas! ^_^

A Polynesian Reception in Southampton

I was really fortunate to be introduced by Randi (Always Fabulous Events) to Jaye and James.
They are very laid back and were opened to my ideas. My mission was to help enhance the look of their Polynesian-themed wedding reception at the Arthur's Catering by Colleen. Randi had Synergetic Sound & Light took care of the lighting, draping and other non floral decor - They had big palm tree-shaped like balloon and hanging lanterns! It was too cool!

Jaye loves Birds of Paradise, so I used it as the "soul" for the centerpiece (it's kinda hard not to have this gorgeous plant as the star). With every event I get to do, I always strive to give a custom look so for those clients who let me fly, I definitely will take the opportunity and fly as high as I could! ^_^ Since Jaye and James had their wedding ceremony by the beach in Cape May 2 months earlier, I decided to bring back the beach feel by pouring a pile of sand underneath the tealight. I did try to make the whole look feels like it's a mini island with its own beach.

I designed the cake topper using the same flowers used in the centerpiece to keep the flow. Just added a few curly willow to add a little drama-rama. Hehehe... ^_^

And...I am so in love with the flip flops on the cupcakes (they looked to good to eat!!)

Thank you so much Jaye and James for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be a part of your special day! I really appreciate your open mind and warm welcome!
Many happy wishes always!! ^_^

And of course, many thanks to the fabulous Randi! I am so glad we finally got to collaborate! Woo hoo! Here's to more fun future collaborations!
