Kate and James' Wedding 2/9/08

by 2/10/2008 8:01 PM

I am very fortunate to start off Papertini's 2008 season with Kate and James' wedding.

I really like the fact that she made the wedding planning a family (and friends) affair.
Her mom helped out with the church decorations and the wedding cake. Yes, she baked and decorated the cake!
What a lovely wedding gift! Her friends helped her out with the reception decorations. Her ideas was to reuse canned food containers as vases filled with flowers at the reception. It's also filled information with their favorite charities for the guests to donate to in lieu of wedding gifts. I find it very inspiring. The cans can be recycled afterwards, too! ^_^

So what Kate came to ask from me was to help her with personal flowers and the arrangements for the church, which I gladly accepted.
Her color scheme was white, green, lavender, and Iris' periwinkle. ^_^ She loves Spider Mums, Kermit Mums, Irises and Lavender Roses (Coolwater). She also mentioned that she would like to have Bells of Ireland for the Church entrance arrangement because she lived there once. I decided to also incorporate the plant to James' boutonniere (we should just call it buttonhole, cuz seriously, I can never spell this right!) and it worked out well! ^_^ She also wanted something different by having each of the bridesmaid has different bouquet. I think the color scheme worked really well with her bridesmaids' black gowns (love their patterned sashes!).

Besides the black bridesmaids' gowns, there are two more memorable things from her wedding:
(1) Her feather hairpiece!
I LOVE IT! I've been wanting to do something like that for my artistic portfolio and now I'm highly convinced that this will work out!
It looks so good on her!
(2) Bluegrass music accompaniment at the ceremony
The two musicians that they hired did such a great job playing and selecting the music for the ceremony. The wedding march started soft and then when Kate and her father reached the altar, they played it faster. It was such a cute moment! What a perfect ode for Kentucky, James' homestate!

This is why I really like being in this business. I love being a part of a warm and wonderful celebration of love, life, and family and be constantly inspired by people.

So here's to you, Kate and James: Many happy wishes in your future life together as a married couple!

Cheers!

Looking In The Eyes Of Love
Alison Krauss and the Union Station

I wonder should I tell you
`bout all the crazy things I've ever done
I've been searching all my life
And when I should have stayed
I tried to run
I was searching for an answer
In a world full of strangers
But what I found was never real enough
Now that I've found you
I'm looking in the eyes of love

Darlin' you've been good to me
You are so much more than I deserve
I never thought that I would find
Someone who's so sweet and kind like you
Please believe me when I say
This time I won't run away
I swear by all of heaven's stars above
Now that I've found you
I'm looking in the eyes of love

Looking in the eyes of love I can see forever
I can see you and me walking in this old world together
Lord my heart's found a home
I've been dreaming of
Now that I've found you
I'm looking in the eyes of love

Papertini @ UPenn Perelman Quad Bridal Show 2/3/2008

by 2/10/2008 5:55 PM

I enjoy working with Bouche Productions. Their bridal shows are always fun and highly organized!

Perelman Quadrangle
is a beautiful and scenic complex within the University of Pennsylvania. It's located behind the Irvine Auditorium on 34th and Spruce St. The bridal show was held in the Houston Hall, which was the Student Union building. That was the first time I have ever been here and I live few blocks away! The interior of Houston Hall was gorgeous! I think my almamater, UWSP, should consider building something like that. Hehe... I love the high ceilings and the classic design. I got to chat with Kelly, one of the friendly Event Planners for Perelman Quad. I am definitely looking forward to working with her in the future. Oh, before I forgot, there's an awesome Crepes shop there, by the way. You have to try it! ^_^ (I'm a sucker for Nutella...)

So on to the bridal show chronicles...This time I actually had the chance to see their fashion show, which I thought was really entertaining.
Oh, and another thing that I noticed was there was this booth that did the hair make-over and I thought that was a great idea! Maybe I should just show up as a guest next time and enjoy all the good things the vendors offer. Hehe... ^_^

This time I also had the chance to network prior to the start time, which was awesome!
I got to chat with John from Ann's Cake Pan, who is a kind and extremely talented gentleman! His works are just amazing (as you can see from the pictures I took below). Their price is pretty reasonable and honestly speaking, I would definitely pay the price for such intricate work of art!

I also spoke with Christine Shoup from A Modern Touch and I feel so fortunate to finally network with someone who's in the same boat as me! We both run our business from home and just starting out. One of my business philosophy is...Never be greedy! You cannot take it all, so might as well share! I mean this what networking is all about! ^_^ Her designs are lovely and creative! I definitely find her works inspiring. Hey, maybe we'll find a way to collaborate one day! You'll never know! ^_^

As always, my fellow Papertinian, Mandy, was cheerful and helpful at the show! Thank you for your help, dear!

Alright, enough yappin'. Enjoy the pictures and if you have any questions, please drop me a line at papertini@gmail.com! ^_^
