Fun times always pass so quickly, I tell ya!
Last Sunday was Rachel's wedding and yes, it is the first big wedding of the year for Papertini!
I had lots of fun and am glad that everything turned out well.
Rachel wanted a simple bouquet consisting of mini calla lilies and collars of hydrangeas. For her bridesmaids, she wants splash of pink to go against their espresso brown dress. Their bouquets have tulips (white and pink), few roses (to give the bouquet a body, because the tulips were small), white wax flowers and hypericum berries for fillers. Because the time between the photoshoot and the wedding was longer than my past weddings**, the flowers were out and about without water for awhile, so before the wedding ceremony, I added Ti leaves collars for the bridesmaids' bouquets to help shape the tulips after they got a chance to drink some water before show time. ^_^
For the men, Dan (the groom), got a single mini calla with hydrangeas petals collar and the rest of the crew got single mini callas with hypericum berries collars. I also made a special ivory roses bouquet for Rachel's grandma, Marilyn, because she's so sweet! ^_^ She reminds me a lot of my grandma back home. Marilyn requested to have her mom's ring to be incorporated in her mini bouquet. I thought that was such a romantic idea! ^_^ It's like representing all 4 generations of the women of the family.

Rachel's wedding ceremony and reception was held at the William Penn Inn in Blue Bell, PA.
The place is perfect for an evening wedding because they lit up the trees outside the hall with string lights.
The color theme for the reception is ivory with splash of green. Rachel requested to have a combination of short centerpieces and tall (unfortunately, I didn't get to take any close up pictures of the tall centerpieces... hopefully the photographer did take a couple shots...we shall see...). To incorporate the espresso brown color into the reception, I used...well, coffee beans! ^_^ I filled the short centerpiece vases with coffee beans and it worked out great! The soft lighting from the wall beamed so nicely on these centerpieces. The place card table centerpiece was made of football mums, curly willows, steel grass, lily grass, and the base is filled with coffee beans and topped with pears and apples! Can't you tell how much I love fruits and veggies? ^_^ I put artichokes along the mantle that I decorated with different size candles (Sharon bought these from IKEA and the candle holders came from Crate and Barrell), tulle, and beaded garland.

To have met Rachel and her mom, Sharon is definitely one of God's greatest gifts to me.
Doing Rachel's wedding has made me realize how important it is to have clients who are willing to see me for who I am, who believe and support me wholeheartedly. Prior to the big day, they even came all the way to check out my work at the Philadelphia Flower Show. I was and still am touched by their kind gesture. This is definitely one of my personal and career's meaningful, unforgettable events. ^_^ Thank you again for the opportunity to be a part of your special day, Rachel! (and Sharon! ^_^).
Many happy wishes always!! ^_^
Footnote:
**This is an important tip for all future brides out there, if you are planning to have photoshoot 2-3 hours prior to the wedding ceremony, you might want to consider the following:
(1) Pick sturdy flowers (such roses, sunflowers, calla lilies, mums, etc. instead of gerber daisies, tulips, irises, hydrangeas, etc.).
(2) Have backup bouquets.
(3) Bring a container of water to at least give the bouquets "drinking water" when need be.
** The name of the rose variety used in this wedding is called "VENDELLA". It has a very nice ivory color with hints of green on the outside petals.
